Kim Nalley

Michael Tilson Thomas heard Kim Nalley sing at the Alta Plaza and hired her to perform Gershwin with the San Francisco Symphony. She was born in San Francisco, raised in New Haven, and came back west for a history degree at UC Berkeley, where she sang with the Cal Big Band. From 2003 to 2008 she owned and ran Jazz at Pearl's in North Beach, which made her one of the very few singers in the country who also signed the checks. She has fronted the Johnny Nocturne Band, cut Beyond the Sea with Hammond organ legend Rhoda Scott, and played Madame ZinZanni under the Teatro ZinZanni tent. Two shows, one night, 110 seats.
