Postmodern Jukebox fans know Gunhild Carling as the Swedish swing star who played “Happy” on ten different instruments, and her Holiday Spectacular is back on Mason Street for the season. Raised in the Carling Family band, she plays trombone, trumpet, bagpipes, recorder, harp and banjo, tap dances, and has been known to blow three trumpets at once. Her holiday album Winter’s Day pairs Christmas standards like “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” with a song in Swedish and her own title track. Back home she led her Carling Big Band at the Royal Palace in Stockholm for King Carl XVI Gustaf’s Ruby Jubilee. Two sets of holiday swing in one intimate room. Grab your seats early.
