Buddy Guy was on the panel when Greg Koch took first prize at the 1989 Bluesbreaker Guitar Showdown, and Joe Bonamassa has since called him pound for pound the best guitar player in the world today. He co wrote the Hal Leonard Guitar Method with Will Schmid, the book that gave millions of players their first lesson, and cut more than 4,000 demo videos for Wildwood Guitars. Fender's Custom Shop built him a signature Stratocaster. In Milwaukee in 2017 he put together the Koch Marshall Trio with Hammond B3 player Toby Lee Marshall and his own son Dylan on drums. No bass player, no singer, and nothing between you and the guitar.

Learn more about Greg Koch & The Koch Marshall Trio

Toby Lee Marshall came out of the Lonnie Brooks and Bernard Allison bands and holds down the bottom end with his left hand, which is why this trio has no bass player. The records are Toby Arrives, out in 2018 on Mascot's Players Club imprint, and Orange Roominations from 2023. Reverend builds Koch a signature guitar called the Gristlemaster. The name is not a joke.
