Sean "Mack" McDonald just took home the 2026 Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album, and two of the players who made that record are on this stage. Have Mercy! was cut at Kid Andersen's Greaseland Studios in San Jose with Andersen producing and June Core on drums, and both are on the bandstand at Biscuits & Blues: Andersen, guitarist of Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, and Core, the drummer on Charlie Musselwhite's 2025 album Look Out Highway and a Little Charlie & the Nightcats veteran. The Augusta, Georgia native is still in his mid twenties and plays like he was raised on Bobby "Blue" Bland, T-Bone Walker, and early B.B. King, because he was. Two sets on a Wednesday in a 110 seat room. Get in early.

He was 15 when a clip of him tearing through "Dust My Broom" in an Augusta music store went viral, and Georgia bluesman Jontavious Willis gave him his first show outside his hometown. He earned an audio production degree at Middle Tennessee State, made his festival debut at King Biscuit in 2019, and has toured Europe repeatedly since. Have Mercy! (Little Village Foundation, 2025) sets four originals against deep cuts from Bobby Bland and Ike Turner.
