Jeff Healey hired Philip Sayce in 1997, and he spent more than three years on the road with the late blues rock great before becoming Melissa Etheridge’s lead guitarist, playing with her at the 2007 Academy Awards and Live Earth. Welsh born and Toronto raised, Sayce was already working Toronto clubs at sixteen. On his own records, from Peace Machine and Steamroller to The Wolves Are Coming and Chevrolet, he plays blues rock at full volume with tone to spare. He has opened for ZZ Top across Europe and Deep Purple in France, and Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival put him on the Madison Square Garden stage in 2013. Two nights, four sets, one 100 seat room. Get close while you can.
