Roots Revival: Westerly
Experience world-class blues, dinner, and drinks — all in one intimate setting.
Sterling Spence told RTE he has always been a huge Springsteen fan, drawn most to Springsteen's way of writing with genuine love for his subjects. That instinct runs through Westerly, the six piece Bay Area band Spence leads as principal songwriter, alongside Scott Wilson on lead guitar, Mike Bond on drums, Shiva Garshasbi on vocals, Spencer Hatfield on bass and Evelyn Yining Hong on keys. Raised between the Micronesian Islands and the East Bay, Spence writes about spirituality, love and the state of the world, and cites nights at Berkeley's 924 Gilman as formative. They topped the bill at Mill Valley's Sweetwater Music Hall this July. One ninety minute set, close quarters.
