There is a movement across the nation to keep the blues music & history alive and music in the hearts and hands of our youth. There is a man that is taking on that mission to preserve and share his knowledge, experience and talents with young aspiring musicians. Jackie Payne -- one of the world's finest blues, soul, and R&B entertainers -- is that man. He is a singer and prolific songwriter who's music is filled with emotional intensity as he has gleaned years of experience playing all around the globe with some of the greatest legends in Blues. Jackie has been in the music industry since the age of 13, has been nominated for numerous awards for Best Soul/Blues Vocalist. He has worked with all the great names in the blues, soul and jazz genre and wants to share his wisdom and passion for music with today's young musicians. This is a wonderful opportunity to be in one of San Francisco's most famous blues clubs and be on stage with other young artist. Jackie's goal is to give the kids some one-on-one time, a chance to see him perform, ask questions and then allow the kids to get up and jam some blues.

At Jackie's side is one of the formost smooth jazz guitar players in the Bay Area; Lloyd Gregory. But pigeonholing him as a smooth jazz guitarist does not do him justice as his versitility is as vast as the deep blue emoting from his instrument. He's a musician in all respects. Understated when need be, yet distinct and bold enough to capture audiences. He will assist Jackie -- along with his fantastic band -- in emparting specific musical techniques, and blues history at the workshop.

Children with Instruments can attend the workshop for free. Bring your instrument and a parent. Amp & PA will be provided.

The day will start at 12:30 with a special buffet lunch available for purchase. The kids can take this time to get to know one another. Jackie Payne and Lloyd Gregory will play a set at 2pm. They will also have a question and answer period and then he'll work with the kids from 3pm and then let the kids jam on the Biscuits & Blues stage! The workshop will conclude at 4pm.

If you know a young person between the age of 11 and 20 who would love to sit in with Jackie Payne at his Youth Movement Workshop at the Internationally renowned Blues Club in San Francisco, Biscuits & Blues, then please come by June 21st and join in the fun! If your child would like to expand his or her abilities, knowledge and love of music, learn about the history of blues, see Jackie Payne and Lloyd Gregory perform, have some fun asking questions, interact with Jackie Payne and Lloyd Gregory, network with other young musicians, and get a chance to jam at the conclusion of the day -- then please join us!
